Kindergarten (Quatrain)

Kindergarten
You walk into the school so small.
You learned to colour and print your name.
You made friends that lasted a lifetime.
And couldn't wait 'till mommy came.

Learned that crayons were not candy.
And plastic food was not to eat.
Went on trips and made applesauce.
Always jumping out of your seat.

Always dressing up like princesses.
The year we learned to share.
Story time and recess was such fun.
Always getting paint in our hair.

Only Trust The Best

Creeping down the stairs

To a room full of presents

My mind was running wild

Would it be a teddy bear?

As I tore through the wrapping paper

I saw her pink dress

“Wahoo!” I screamed, I could not wait 'till later

I just had to play with her

Ever since that Christmas day

I've brought her everywhere

Played with her all day

Changing her clothes and brushing her hair

As you know I loved her lots

That favourite Barbie of mine

I lent her to a friend one day

I thought she'd be fine

When I got my Barbie back

She had a new look, make-up on her face

And scribbles down her back

Her hair was cut and clothes ripped

I cried for like a week,

Until my mother said

“We will get you a new one”

So I did just that, and also got a bed

Climbing trees, and scraping knees,

A kid will be a kid,

But the lesson here you see

Is only trust the best

Now as for my Barbie

Where is she now?

She has a new friend Marley

Who is in the hospital, sick, very sick

My True Prince

Every girl dreams of Prince Charming...

He loves to play dress up, he's always the prince.

He shouts out “Neigh,” as he gives a horsey ride

He loves to come to my tea parties.

He loves to play hide and seek, he lets me hide.

A Knight In Shining Armour...

He loves to take me shopping and buy me lots of toys.

He always tells jokes and likes to act silly.

He always scares the monsters away from under my bed.

He built me a beautiful castle up in a tree.

... But Mom says I can't marry my Daddy.

I'm a big kid now

I can ride a purple tike

Next a two-wheeled bike

I rode down the path

I rode through a forest of dancing trees

I was overjoyed

As I turned around

To wave at my dear mother

I fell off my bike

As I start to cry

As I looked down at my knee

It is all bloody

With rocks in my cut

My daddy carried me home

We cleaned up the cut
