Lifelong (Free Verse)

Lifelong

All my mom and dad ever do is argue and fight,

I try to fall asleep as they yell, late into the night.

They almost never acknowledge one another,

Give a kiss, or a hug or even look at each other.

I wish it would all just stop, it makes me want to scream!

I feel like I'm drowning without water, being pulled downstream.

Sometimes I wonder if they could just get along,

Is this normal, after all aren't marriages lifelong?
